PRIVACY POLICY
Your vehicle data stays yours.
1. Who is responsible
DriftLine Media Inc. is responsible for personal information handled through ECUtilities, ECUniverse, and related account services. Our privacy contact is privacy@driftlinemedia.ca.
2. Information we collect
Account and identity
- Email address, authentication identifier, confirmation status, display name, username, and account status.
- Policy acceptance records, account recovery activity, security events, and deletion requests.
- Profile photo, cover photo, broad location text, biography, and visibility preferences when provided.
Vehicle and app data
- Vehicle profiles such as profile name, year, make, model, trim, engine or powertrain details, VIN where provided, odometer or maintenance information, dashboard layouts, skins, preferences, entitlements, and cloud-sync identifiers.
- Saved maintenance records, attachments, diagnostic history, freeze-frame details, and dyno-session records when cloud synchronization is enabled.
- Bluetooth adapter selections, app settings, and device-local configuration needed to operate ECUtilities.
Social activity
- Posts, comments, reactions, follows, follow requests, blocks, reports, moderation records, public build projections, uploaded media, captions, and selected visibility.
- Private vehicle data is not automatically public. A public or follower-visible build page contains only information you prepare or publish for that purpose.
Camera, microphone, location, and recordings
- Camera access supports road-facing, driver-facing, and compatible additional camera views.
- Microphone access is used only when you enable audio recording or another feature that clearly requests it.
- Location may support speed, trip, compass, and logging features.
- Dashcam recording currently uses Android screen capture and may record the displayed camera views, gauges, overlays, and app controls into a file selected or stored on your device.
Technical and service data
Our hosting, authentication, database, storage, email, and security providers may process standard connection and security information such as IP address, request time, device or browser characteristics, session tokens, and error logs. ECUniverse uses browser storage to maintain sessions, preferences, and the selected skin.
Payments
Purchases may be processed by Google Play. DriftLine receives purchase and entitlement status but does not receive your full payment-card number.
3. Why we use information
- Create, authenticate, secure, and recover accounts.
- Synchronize authorized vehicle identities, preferences, entitlements, and supported records.
- Operate dashboards, diagnostics, maintenance, recording, garage, and social features.
- Apply visibility, blocking, reporting, moderation, and safety controls.
- Prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and technical failure.
- Respond to support, access, correction, privacy, legal, and deletion requests.
- Comply with law and enforce the Terms and Community Standards.
4. Consent and choices
We request express acceptance of the current Terms, Privacy Policy, Community Standards, and Recording & Location Notice. Android separately asks for sensitive permissions when a feature needs them. You may decline optional permissions, avoid public posting, keep a profile private, disable particular features, remove content, or withdraw consent subject to legal and contractual limits. Some features cannot work without the information they require.
5. When information is shared
- With other users: according to the profile, build, post, and media visibility you select.
- With service providers: only as needed for hosting, authentication, databases, private file storage, email delivery, app distribution, billing, security, and technical operations.
- For safety or law: where reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or respond to valid legal process.
- Business changes: as part of a financing, reorganization, acquisition, or sale, subject to appropriate confidentiality and privacy protections.
We do not sell personal information to advertisers.
6. International processing
Service providers may process or store information outside Ontario or Canada, including in the United States or other regions selected for the service. Information in another country may be subject to lawful access under that country’s laws. We use contractual, access-control, and technical measures appropriate to the service and information.
7. Retention
- Account and cloud content is kept while the account is active or until you delete it, remove it, or it is no longer needed for the stated purpose.
- Device-local recordings and logs remain until you delete them, uninstall the app, clear app data, or remove the selected files.
- Deleted account data is removed from active systems as soon as technically practicable. Residual encrypted backups may persist until overwritten under provider backup schedules and are not restored for ordinary use.
- Limited security, fraud-prevention, moderation, transaction, policy-acceptance, dispute, and legal-compliance records may be retained after deletion only as reasonably necessary for those purposes.
8. Security
We use authentication, private storage, access controls, encrypted network connections, row-level database rules, least-privilege service access, and operational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. No system is perfectly secure. Report suspected vulnerabilities to security@driftlinemedia.ca.
9. Access, correction, portability, and complaints
You may request access to personal information we hold about you, ask us to explain its use and disclosure, request correction, or raise a privacy complaint. Write to privacy@driftlinemedia.ca from the account email and provide enough information for us to verify your identity. We may withhold information where law requires or permits, including information about another person, security details, or privileged material.
10. Account deletion
You can initiate deletion through ECUniverse Settings & Safety, use the external instructions at Account Deletion & Data Retention, or email account@driftlinemedia.ca. Deletion removes the shared EC account and associated active cloud data, subject to the narrow retention exceptions described above. Files stored only on your device must be deleted from that device separately.
11. Young users
The services are not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 16. Contact privacy@driftlinemedia.ca if you believe a younger person has provided personal information.
12. Policy changes
We may update this policy as features and legal requirements change. Material changes will be highlighted and may require renewed acceptance. The current version and effective date appear at the top.
